Milos Specialties & Recipes
Following the Mediterranean Greek gastronomy Milos offers a wide array of mouthwatering traditional dishes and exquisite local specialties served in most restaurants and taverns.  Tasteful simplicity is what characterizes the island’s cuisine and traditional gastronomy is prepared only by high quality ingredients and locally sourced food products.

  • Pitarakia: Ttraditional cheese pies with onion and spearmint. A unique delicacy!
  • Strapatsada: Fried eggs mixed with tomatoes and other ingredients
  • Ntomatokeftedes: Deep fried tomato balls
  • Cattle fish with pasta
  • Bougiourdi: Baked tomatoes with peppers and cheese in a spicy sauce to make a “hot” dish!
  • Psito sti Hovoli: Wild goat cooked in ember with marjoram, lemon & mustard. The meat is baked in burning, hot sand that adds a delightful, sweet taste due to its slow baking.
  • Katsiki Lemonato: Goat with fresh lemon juice cooked in a cacerole
  • Flaounes: Spinach pies with raisins and syrup. A delicacy for all day!
  • Arnaki Surtukiko: Lamb baked in wax paper with melted feta cheese, onions and dill. A real pleasure especially for meat lovers!
  • Baked Gouronopoulo: Piglet baked in paper with molasses. Especially sweet taste worth trying despite of calories and fat!
  • Karpouzopita: Watermelon pie for a refreshing, different sweet pleasure
  • Lamprokouloures: Special biscuits prepared during Easterto compliment traditional dishes. 
  • Lasagna with garlic sauce: Homemade lasagna in a soft garlic sauce for an Italian hint in the day’s menu.
  • Ladenia: Traditional pie with olive oil, tomato and onion. It can accompany almost every main dish
