Re-think Athens Exhibition on View at Syntagma Metro


The Onassis Foundation founded and organized a European Architectural competition under the Re-think Athens project” for the transformation of the city centre of Athens that was presented at the Onassis Cultural Centre on March 21st of 2012. The competition started on May 21st 2012 and attracted many participants from the EU.

Rethink Athens Event

 

The aim of this competition was to generate innovative ideas for the reconstruction of the city centre focusing mainly on the creation of a vibrant yet green metropolitan centre, environmentally friendly with reduced traffic and reconfigured public spaces for a city that is bursting with life.

Rethink Athens Concept

 

The winner of the Re-think Athens competition was announced by the Onassis Foundation on February 27th 2013. The 71 architectural proposals, mock-ups and renderings, including the winning proposal by OKRA LANDSCHAPSARCHITECTEN BV, were displayed at the Onassis Cultural Centre from Thursday 28 February to Wednesday 10 March 2013.

Rethink Athens

 

Following this successful exposition attracting a continuous flow of visitors, the Re-think Athens Exhibition is now on view at Syntagma Metro Station. From March 14th until March 26th 2013, Monday to Sunday, 9:00-21:00 the exhibition will be open to the public who will have the chance to see up close all inspirational proposals for the city’s urban revival.
